Shaffer Announces Nearly $1.2 Million for School Safety, Behavioral Health Improvements

HARRISBURG - Rep. Jeremy Shaffer (R-Allegheny) announced several schools in the 28th Legislative District will be receiving nearly $1.2 million to make learning environments safer and provide behavioral health support for students and staff.

The grants were approved through the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency’s (PCCD) School Safety and Security Committee.

“I’m proud to represent an area that has some of the best schools in all of the Commonwealth,” Shaffer said. “This funding helps make the schools even better by strengthening school safety and ensuring our learning environments remain secure for everyone.”

The total amount awarded to each school or school district is as follows:

  • A.W. Beattie Career Center - $70,000.
  • Deer Lakes School District - $172,503.
  • Hampton Township School District - $205,156.
  • North Allegheny School District - $452,569.
  • Pine-Richland School District - $287,167.

The PCCD’s School Safety and Security Committee administers programs designed to improve school safety and security, strengthen behavioral health supports, and provide training and technical assistance to schools across Pennsylvania.
